Considering all the factors involved, your connection may be fast but you still see freezing because of 'packet loss'. It's very rare to see the service freeze even during peak times and ppv events. People that experience little to no issues are actively getting a minimum of 5 mb/s at the box. The range you want to be in [ at a minimum ] is 5-15 mb/s so you can view hd 1080 at 60 fps.

This means you can easily view an SD channel at 5mb/s or an HD channel which could require as much as 15 mb/s...the factors are compression, your connection, our service and everything in between you and the closet server. You will see very little interruption if you follow that rule of thumb.

Different compression used on different channels mean you may freeze a tad here and there at 7mb/s watching ESPN @ 720p but remember we have 2 services and separate servers feeding us so many times you just goto the other ESPN @720p and it's fine cause the compression is tighter. For the technically proficient wireshark and traceroute can show you where the packet loss occurs between you and the server and if the percentage is high enough you will see issues beyond anyones control. This is offset using the newest digital balance dispersement array.
